Thankfully, boudoir photography is becoming more mainstream and less taboo yet many women are still slightly intimidated by the idea of booking their own session. I promise you that there is nothing to fear! My boudoir sessions are very relaxed and full of positive and empowering vibes. You are not expected to know how to “pose” or be any certain body type.
My boudoir photography approach is very elegant, soulful, and meant to fully embrace the beauty of the woman I am photographing. I suffered from poor self-confidence for most of my life so when I see my clients light up with confidence, totally owning their beauty through my photography, it lights me up too.
Here are my favorite tips to help you prep for your boudoir session.

1. Choose a beautiful space

Let’s book a space that has great light. Boudoir sessions are meant to embrace your beauty and femininity, so let’s choose an area that lets the light shine! I’m more than happy to consult with my clients on booking a location that will bring their boudoir vision to life. Often, a stylish room with a window will do!

2. Don’t skip professional hair & makeup
You’ve booked your session, purchased brand new lingerie, found a dreamy studio space, and then you do your own hair and makeup? It just doesn’t make sense! Professional hair and makeup artist are just that, professionals. They are trained on how to apply to make up for the camera and they can help bring your confidence to a whole new level for your session.

3. Bring your best self
When I say “bring your best self” I am not referring to being in your best shape. I am referring to your headspace. Be happy! Be confident! Be open to having fun!
It’s natural (and expected) to arrive feeling a little nervous. But within 5-10 minutes my clients are totally “in the flow” and really enjoying themselves or as Beyonce would say “feeling themselves”.
